True Randomness vs Pseudo Randomness

True randomness comes from natural phenomena rather than computer algorithms. Random numbers that are algorithmically generated are called pseudo-random numbers. They appear random, but they follow predictable patterns. True randomness has been generated from atmospheric noise, radioactive decay, and other natural processes with sources that are genuinely unpredictable and cannot be replicated.

Put another way, true randomness comes from some real, physical thing. Pseudo random numbers are a simulation of randomness generated with code.

True Randomness For Spiritual Practice

When we use algorithmic randomness, there's always an underlying pattern and its only a simulation of randomness constructed by humans. True randomness removes human influence entirely, and connects us through the physical processes used. The intention of the quote generator is to provide you with a message meant just for you, in this exact moment. After generating a quote, sit with the message. Read it throughout the day. Ponder what it means to you and why this was the message that came to you.

No attributions

Quote attributions are purposely omitted from the quote generator. Knowing the author of a quote can only serve to bias your mindset..whether that is positive, negative or neutral. Either way, that bias will get in the way of the message itself. For example, if the quote happens to be by someone you are familiar with and don't like, you won't be as receptive to the message as you otherwise would be. In the context of using true randomness to generate quotes for spiritual guidance, there is no need to know the author of the quote.

Quote Database

Spirit Random has a custom database of more than 500,000 quotes and counting. You'd have to use the quote generator everyday for 2 ½ years before you're expected to see any repeated quotes. However, since the quotes are generated using true randomness, a repeated quote is possible and may indicate the message's importance to you.

Random Dates

The Random Dates generator will return a truly random date between January 1st 1000 and December 31st 2999.

How to use the dates

The random dates can be used in your meditation or spiritual practices as a source for focus. Place your attention on the date, or try to remote view a location on this date.
